Why Lunyazi exists
Every SMS and OTP platform used by businesses in Eswatini was built abroad — in the US, Europe, or West Africa — with Eswatini treated as an afterthought. Delivery times were slow, routing went through multiple hops, and support meant submitting a ticket to someone who had never seen +268. Pricing was in USD. Payments required a VISA card most local businesses don't have.
Lunyazi was built to fix that. A platform designed from the start for Eswatini and Southern Africa — priced in SZL, paid via MoMo, with infrastructure that connects directly to local carriers instead of routing through London or Lagos first.
Who built it
Lunyazi is built by Ekukhuleni Labs, a technology company based in Manzini, Eswatini. Ekukhuleni Labs builds digital infrastructure for Southern Africa — payment systems, SMS platforms, management portals, and SaaS applications used by businesses, savings societies, cooperatives, and government-adjacent institutions across the region.

Infrastructure
Lunyazi's SMS infrastructure connects directly to MTN Eswatini via SMPP — the same low-level protocol used by enterprise telecoms — with WinSMS as a regional failover. This means Eswatini messages never touch an international aggregator: they go directly from Lunyazi's relay to MTN's SMSC and onto the handset.
International numbers (UK, US, EU) are routed through a compliant international gateway. All infrastructure runs on AWS with data stored in the region.

Compliance and data protection
Eswatini Data Protection Act 2022 — Lunyazi's OTP product is designed to support Section 14 compliance, which requires organisations to implement appropriate technical measures to verify user identity and protect personal data. OTP verification via SMS is the most widely accepted mechanism for consent and authentication under the Act.
Customer phone numbers are used exclusively to deliver messages on your behalf. Numbers are never sold, shared, or used for Lunyazi's own marketing. API keys are scoped per application and can be rotated at any time from the dashboard.
